Brant
Construction, LLC
was awarded the construction management
contract for the Otangeles Medical Center,
currently under construction in Merrillville,
Indiana. This 24,000 square foot physician-owed
facility was designed for leasing to various
tenants.
The
current 3-acre site, within one quarter
mile of the I-65 and US Route 30 intersection,
was originally two separate parcels which
housed a restaurant and a small medical
center. Both buildings were demolished,
and the site replatted to facilitate this
new center. Extensive site work and grading
had to be performed to allow for on-site
drainage, as no storm water run-off was
allowed outside the boundaries of the site.
The
building structure is a masonry brick/block
exterior, with structural steel support
elements and an insulated metal deck. A
rubber membrane roof provides a watertight
system, while the three architecturally
designed towers have a standing seam roof
to offer an attractive facade. All interior
spaces which face the street are waiting
areas that will enjoy the natural light
from large insulated windows.
In house services include a full diagnostic
x-ray facility and physical therapy center,
along with doctor suites, primary and urgent
care, and a corporate health center.
Groundbreaking
took place on August 13, 2004, and Brant
is on-schedule for an aggressive completion
date of July, 2005.
